About The Confidence Loop

Self-esteem and confidence impact every facet of a child’s life. From daily experiences and decision-making, all the way to overall growth and development, it plays a huge role in a child's future success. As parents and caregivers, it is our responsibility to guide them in the right direction, lead by example, and provide a positive and supportive environment in which our children can thrive. That’s why The Confidence Loop was created!

The Confidence Loop is a publishing imprint and blog on a mission to help raise the next generation of confident, self-aware and emotionally intelligent human beings. It’s no small task, but we believe that with enough like-minded parents and caregivers, it's one that can be achieved. So, we are happy to have you here!  On this site, you’ll find resources for children, caregivers, and parents alike. Between our blog, free resources, children’s book, and accompanying workbook and journal, there is something for everyone!

What exactly is The Confidence Loop? We're glad you asked! There are really two loops. Both based on the premise of a positive feedback loop, there is one at the individual level and another at the communal level.

An individual's confidence and self-esteem are influenced by their own thoughts, feelings and behaviors. On an individual level, the loop works like this: when someone gains enough confidence to achieve a goal or attempt something new, a shift in mindset takes place. While they may feel apprehensive at first, these feelings tend to morph into ones of satisfaction, pride or accomplishment once they begin to see results. As they take steps toward achieving their goal, they may experience positive feedback from others as well, which further reinforces their newfound confidence and encourages them to continue along this trajectory. From there, the loop continues on, building the individual's self-confidence further with each cycle.

Once one child experiences the amazing freedom that is confidence, we want to keep the ball rolling. This is where the real magic happens. You see, here at The Confidence Loop, we believe that confidence is contagious. On a community level, the loop looks a little something like this: in a group where confidence is observed and encouraged, individuals are more likely to develop confidence in themselves. When one child exudes a healthy self-esteem, if often inspires other children to do the same. This, in turn, can lead to more positive interactions, increased motivation, and greater overall success for the group as a whole. As the loop continues round and round from one child to the next, confidence can spread quickly.

Meet Kim

Kim Farrell is the award-winning author of Proud to Be Me, a children's book about confidence, diversity, and acceptance. She is also the creator of The Confidence Loop, a publishing imprint and blog that promotes healthy self-esteem in children. As a wellness program coordinator, mental health advocate and writer, she has published an array of articles on various health and wellness topics, in addition to several short stories. But her most prized accomplishment to date is becoming a mother to a beautiful baby boy named Tyler in 2022.

Kim lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, son, and dog, who have all been sources of inspiration and support throughout the process of publishing her first children’s book. When she is not working, writing, or cleaning up poop, you can find her hanging out with her family, creating Pinterest-fail home decor, or wandering aimlessly around Target (with coffee in hand).

More From the Author:

I’m so glad you are here and I’m grateful that you are interested in learning a little more about me. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Public Health Education from West Chester University, and by day I am a writer and an account manager of corporate wellness programs. But my most important titles are mental health advocate, animal lover, friend, sister, daughter, wife and mom.

As a writer, I have written various articles related to health and wellness, several short stories, and countless tid-bits that I have yet to share with the world. I’ve always been intrigued by the world of children’s books, but when my son came into the world last year, I knew it was time to take the plunge. The truth is, this book and vision have lived in my heart for a very long time, but I've only recently gained enough confidence in myself to bring them to life. It's taken a lot of courage and introspection to reverse a lifetime of perfectionistic thinking and self-consciousness.

And that brings me to why I created Proud to Be Me and The Confidence Loop. Doubt, self-consciousness, uncertainty... these are all natural emotions for humans to experience from time to time, especially during the delicate (often tumultuous) adolescent years. They cannot be entirely avoided. But they have the power to cause long-term damage and heartache if we do not learn how to respond to them. It is my hope that with a little love, knowledge, and guidance, we can help children overcome these kinds of feelings more swiftly by recognizing and understanding them at a young age. And, who knows? Maybe we can encourage our kids to turn their big ideas into reality sooner rather than later. Because why wait? If we love, respect and value ourselves at our core, then what is there to truly fear about chasing our dreams and living our most authentic lives?

The Confidence Loop is not only the publishing imprint I created for my own books, but it is also a space where I share resources to help parents and caregivers achieve their goals in raising confidence and emotionally intelligent children. On my blog, I share my recommendations on other great children’s books, random musings about life, and advice about parenting based on my own research. However, full disclosure, I am not and will never pretend to be an expert! I'm just a mom who is learning as I go and sharing what I learn. I can only speak from my own experiences, but if I share even one thing that resonates or helps another person out there, it will be worth it!
